CVB Executive VP, John Mills honored as CFO of the Year

JohnMills2(August 25, 2014) - Concord, NC  — John Mills was selected as the winner of the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2014 CFO of the Year award in the category of small – midsized nonprofit or government organization.

Mills is the longest employed team member of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau and has led the organization through milestones such as establishing the Bureau as an independent 501(c)6, relocating the offices and visitor center, and achieving accreditation through Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), the global trade association for official destination marketing organizations.

“Since joining the Bureau, John has dedicated himself to the development of the organization, our staff and this destination,” said Donna Carpenter, President/CEO of the Cabarrus County CVB. “He’s been instrumental to the advancement of the tourism industry in Cabarrus County and we’re so fortunate and honored to have him as a part of our Leadership Team.”

Cabarrus County’s hospitality professionals honored at inaugural Celebrate Cabarrus event

(April 28, 2014) - Concord, NC — On April 10, three separate Cabarrus County entities with different missions came together to honor and recognize the outstanding contributions made by our area’s business and hospitality professionals over the last year. The event combined the Chamber Annual Meeting, the EDC Annual Awards and the CVB Golden Helmet Awards.

“Cabarrus County has made significant strides in infrastructure, business and tourism, all made possible by dedicated people who champion progress in Cabarrus County,” said Donna Carpenter, President/CEO of the Cabarrus County CVB. “Celebrate Cabarrus was created to recognize their hard work and achievements.
