Cabarrus tourism executive named one of the best and brightest in the Southeast

(September 17, 2015) - Concord, NC – Donna Carpenter, President and CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau, received the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Beacon Award during the 30th Annual STS Shining Example Award Ceremony. 

“Organizations and individuals receiving STS Shining Examples are being pointed out as achievers of great merit. They are coveted awards,” said STS President Bill Hardman.

Under Carpenter’s leadership since 2009, the Cabarrus County CVB has achieved accreditation from Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), strategically relocated the Visitor Center and has made significant strides in advocacy efforts including the development and implementation of the “Destination 2020” vision plan, a roadmap to enhancing connectivity, safety and visitor experience.

Cabarrus County CVB announces updates to Board of Directors

(August 20, 2015) - Concord, NC – The Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce its 2015-16 Board of Directors Executive Committee.

Current member of Concord City Council and owner of AIM Tours, Jennifer Parsley served as Treasurer on the Board’s Executive Committee in fiscal year 2014-15.

Pamela S. Dubois, Treasurer
Cabarrus County’s Deputy County Manager Pamela Dubois joined the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board in fiscal year 2014-15.

Manager of Economic Development at Duke Energy of the Carolinas, Tammy Whaley serves as Secretary for the second year after being appointed to the Board in August 2013.

Visitor spending surges in Cabarrus County, reaches over $400 million

2014 visitor spending jumps 7.6% over 2013 generating $28.95 million in state and local tax revenues which represents $447 in tax savings per household for the year

(August 12, 2015) - Concord, NC  – Visit North Carolina announced today that domestic visitors to and within Cabarrus County spent a record $400.03 million in 2014. Cabarrus County saw the second highest percent increase in visitor spending behind Orange County, outpacing North Carolina and 98 other counties.

Sim Frazier joins Cabarrus CVB Sales Team

Sim-Frazier-press(July 27, 2015) - Concord, NC - The Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau is excited to welcome Sim Frazier as Leisure Sales Manager. In this role, Frazier works closely with the area’s hospitality and tourism partners to promote and sell Cabarrus County as a destination for motor coach travel experiences and social, military, educational, religious and fraternal (SMERF) group meetings and events and car clubs.
